Viola Beach were a promising British indie rock band formed in Warrington, Cheshire, in 2013. They were on the absolute cusp of a major musical breakthrough before their journey was cut devastatingly short.
Musically, they were known for an incredibly infectious, energetic, and upbeat sound. Frontman Kris Leonard once noted that their hometown of Warrington directly inspired their lyrics—drawing from the grey, industrial landscape to create punchy, tropical, and optimistic "slacker pop" anthems that provided a burst of vibrant colour.
They are still fiercely remembered in the music scene as the "Boys That Sing" - A band frozen in time at their absolute happiest, doing what they loved. (Warrington Guardian)
Viola Beach is the only studio album by the indie rock group. It was released in the United Kingdom on 29 July 2016, by Fuller Beans Records. The album includes the singles Swings & Waterslides and Boys That Sing. The album peaked to number one on the UK Albums Chart.
