Chapterhouse was a British band that eventually became part of the burgeoning shoegaze scene along with bands such as Lush, Ride and Slowdive.

Between 1987 and 1994 they only released two albums of which Whirlpool was their debut. Unlike their counterparts, Chapterhouse heavily employed structures borrowed from electronic music creating heavy, yet strangely uplifting grooves. The record spent three weeks in the UK Albums chart peaking at number #23 and includes the single "Pearl" featuring Rachel Goswell of Slowdive. Pitchfork in turn ranked the album at #17 on its list of the 50 best shoegaze albums of all time.

Whirlpool is available as a limited edition of 2,000 individually numbered copies on white and black marbled vinyl, includes an insert and comes in a deluxe sleeve with linen laminate finish.
