In many cultures, the hummingbird is a symbol of healing, hope and endurance, a tiny warrior that will fight with outsize ferocity to protect itself. After a season of loss and growth, Grammy-winning singer Carly Pearce started to take inspiration and comfort from the little birds, pouring it into her fittingly titled new album hummingbird.
Due out June 7 via Big Machine Records, hummingbird documents Pearce’s cautiously hopeful steps toward healing and happiness. Where her previous album 29: Written in Stone felt like a report from inside the storm, hummingbird is like that next stage of the process, when you’re putting in the work to rebuild stronger than you were before and finding little moments of joy along the way.
Produced by Pearce with collaborators Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, the album shows a country artist at the top of her game — one who’s done some living and isn’t afraid to be unflinchingly honest about it
